About Lenox, Waterford Crystal, and Fenton Art Glass
Since 1889, Lenox has produced fine china, crystal and housewares, and they were the first American
china to be used in the White House. Today, Lenox is dedicated to upholding the high standards of excellence
in artistry and craftsmanship as set forth by founder, Walter S. Lenox.
Waterford Crystal, produced in Ireland, is probably most famous for
the giant crystal ball lowered every New Year's Eve in New York City's Time Square.
Waterford was founded in 1783 and their fine crystal works soon became famous around
the world and merchant ships sailed regularly from the port of Waterford with cargoes of
crystal bound for Spain, the West Indies, New York, New England and Newfoundland. Today,
Waterford works are still synonymous with class, sophistication and elegance.
Frank and John Fenton founded The Fenton Art Glass Company in 1905, today, it is
the largest manufacturer of handmade colored glass in the United States. Often showing the
influence of Tiffany and Steuben, Fenton art glass was known for it's originality as well, often utilizing new and unusual colors.
They also introduced the popular collectible iridescent product known as "Carnival" glass.
Today nine Fenton family members work together beside 400 employees including skilled artists and glassworkers,
to create handmade beautiful glass colors and patterns.
