About the Alstromeria (Peruvian Lily)
The Alstromeria is a beautiful, delicate little lilly flower sometimes called the Peruvian Lilly, Inca Lily or Lilly of the Incas.
The origins of the peruvian lily can be traced back to South America where it flourishes in the cool mountain regions of the Andes.
This little beauty of the Andes was first brought to Europe by the Swedish Consul of Spain, Kias Alstroemer in the mid 1700's and
aptly named for him by the French botanist Carlus Linnaeus.
The alstromeria is believed to be symbolic of devotion
and are usually long lasting as cut flowers. They are often streaked or
spotted with darker colors, stripes or accents
